The Photographer

My name is Leah, and I am the Bearfoot Photographer in Gilbert, Arizona. Recently, I became a stay-at-home mom (yay!) after many years of working outside the home. While I adore my new position in life, I decided this year to take hold of a passion I’ve long held and turn it into income for my family. I love photography and have been shooting artistically for many years. My parents can attest to the hundreds of dollars they spent on film back before digital cameras were a twinkle in their inventor’s eyes.

I’ve found, however, that I love working with people and families. (That sentence almost came out, “I love shooting people.” That’s a different blog, though.) When I draw or paint, I always gravitate towards faces and and the human form, and that’s where my heart lies with photography as well. There is something indescribable about being able to capture the essence of a person or the meaningful elements of a family.

The Name

I’ve been asked where the name came from, and why it’s not Barefoot Photography. There are many reasons why we stuck with Bearfoot Photography, but the main reason is that it’s kind of a family thing. I love going barefoot (shoes and I have a love/hate relationship- I love to buy them and hate to wear them…) and the “bear” thing just kind of fit. I tried Firstname Lastname Photography, but it just wasn’t me. When my husband and I came up with Bearfoot Photography, we knew it couldn’t be anything else. And no, this does not mean that I do my photo shoots sans soles. Most of the time.
